Ther. 45 FRI. DEC. 30th, 1898 Wind S.E.
Another warm spring like
day. Edwd & Willie came soon
after breakfast, the latter drove
on to Charles Peirces to get a
pig for cousin Edward Peirce
said to be of extra fine breed
"Poland China". I went to store
P.O. & to Fairall's office.
Samuel Oldfield came to
the office to bring some more
articles of mine that were
used about his father during
his illness. Willie came back
about sunset & drove on to
"Fairfield" with his pig and
has taken a severe cold which
I hope may not develope into
"grippe".

Rain Rain
Ther. 55o SAT. DEC. 31, 1898 Wind N.W.
This has been an extremely
disagreeable rainy day. Willie
came from "Fairfield" (walking)
before we were done breakfast.
Edwd is quite sick with grippe
and a terrible cold. I hope he
may escape pneumonia.
I am far from well myself.
The wind has been blowing from
N.W. all day although it has
continued to rain: it is much
colder this evening & the wind
blows hard. If it should clear
off it will be very cold. At
10. o'clock tonight the thermometer
registers 22o, a fall of 33 degrees
since this morning, it is hailing
snowing & sleeting.
