Fond du Lac County

Is bounded on the north by Winnebago and Calumet counties, on the east by [Milwaukee] Sheboygan, on the south by Washington and Dodge, and on the west by Marquette Counties; or to trace the boundaries we may begin at the north west corner of township seventeen in range fourteen, and running thence east to Lake Winnebago; thence across that lake in a north easterly directionto the south boundary of the Indian reservation; thence east to the east line of range nineteen; thence south twenty seven miles to the south line of township thirteen; thence west twelve miles; thence north six miles; thence west twelve miles; and thence north eighteen miles to the place of beginning. It is thirty six miles long from east to west, and twenty seven miles wide in the widest place. The superficial extent of the county is seven [five] hundred and fifty four square miles, of which thirty [two] six are covered by the waters of Lake Winnebago.
