Crooked Lake (Lac Croche of the French). A Lake eighteen miles in length, on Rainy Lake river, above Sturgeon Lake.

Crooked Lake, a small lake on Bark river in Milwaukee County one mile west of Nemahbin lake. It is not represented on the plats of the public surveys; but was discovered in making the preliminary surveys of the Milwaukee and Rock river canal.

Crooked Lake- A small lake in [Sheboygan] Fond du Lac County (Town 13 Range 19).

Crocke, Rapide, (or Crooked Rapids), one of the rapids on Fox river, five miles below the Great Kakalin rapids, and two miles above Plum creek. The fall of the river is only 1.17 foot in distance of 1,300 feet, but the elbow is so short and the current so rapid, and sets so strongly against the southern banks that a boat would experienc great difficulty in passing, and would invariably incur the risk of being forced ashore before it could turn the elbow.

Cross Lac La. A small lake on the Mississippi near its source (a little below Lake Winnepeg) through which canoes pass in descending the river and thus save many miles of navigation. It is said to contain white fish, a remarkable circumstance, for these fish are seldom found out of the great lakes.

Cross Lake, a small lake forming the source of Deer river, a branch of the Mississippi above the falls of Pekagama.
