Devil River (Manitoo river-or East river) This is the very vulgar name applied to a stream that takes its rise in Calumet county and running parallel to the Neenah river for twenty miles, discharges itself into that stream near its mouth. This singular parallelism of several streams in Wisconsin, probably is [could] owing to [by] some [geological] peculiar arrangement of the rock strata composing the sub soil of the country, which is here, limestone.

Diamond Grove, a post town in Iowa County, on the road from Mineral Point to Wingville, where there is a fine body of timber, two furnaces, a store, several dwellings, &c.
