Fond du Lac County as now constituted includes the county formerly set off as separate counties and called Calumet and Marquette which are now towns in this county. Its boundaries may be traced as follows-Begin on the Neenah at the South line of town 14-thence down that river to west line of Range 14 (Winnebago County) thence south to south line of said county or south line of town 17-thence east to middle of Lake Winnebago-thence north to the north east corner of [said] town 20 Range 17- thence east to the corner of Manitowoc county (west line of Range 20-thence south 24 miles to north line of Sheboygan co- thence west six miles- thence S. 24 miles to Washington co- thence west 12 m to Dodge co- thence N 6 m to N.E. corner of Dodge co-thence W. along the line between T 13 & 14 to the Neenah at the place of beginning. It is of very irregular shape and when the several parts become more thickly populated must be again divided into several counties.

The Military road from Fort Howard to Fort Winnebago passes through this county, and recently a road has been opened
