Fond du Lac, a town laid out at the southern extremity of Lake Winnebago near the mouth of the Fond du Lac river, by the "Fond du Lac Company" in 1835. It is the seat of justice of Fond du Lac County and has a post office. It was formerly for a long time the site of a Winnebago Indian village. The situation of the town is said to be beautiful-the land ascends gradually from the Lake, and with here and there small groves and clumps of trees, studing and adorning the resident prairie. 64 m Milw.
