Franklin, a town in Milwaukee county established in 1840 embracing the surveyed township number five in range number twenty one. It is therefore six miles square. It is well watered, Root river passing entirely through the town from north to south, and it receives numerous branches from the east and west side. There is a fine prairie at the south part of the town; the remainder being covered with timber. The land is of excellent quality and most of it is already occupied for the purposes of cultivation.
