Geneva, a flourishing town in Walworth county, situated at the foot of Geneva Lake, and on the outlet of that beautiful body of water. The outlet affords good water power at this place, which will [give] make Geneva, ere long an important place. In 1838 the first improvement was made being a grist mill. In 1840 it is stated that there were about fifty buildings;- four stores, two taverns, and various mechanic's shops; and this town has continued to grow in business and importance. Population in 1842-1145-being about one fourth of the whole population of the county- Incorporated 1844.
