The topographical features of this country are quite simple. It may be considered as [one] two [uniform] plains one having a gentle inclination to the south, which is worn down by the numerous streams leaving ridges or "divides" between; and another plain [extending north] of less entent inclining north towards the Wisconsin. These planes meet in a line running almost directly east and west through the middle of township six. North of this ridge the sandstone which underlies the "lead bearing" or "cliff" limestone crops out forming prominent cliffs along the Wisconsin.
