and gentle slope, susceptible of cultivation to their summits, and the timber is thin. There is much prairie land, especially in the southern part of the county. Several very valuable "discoveries" of lead ore have been made and there are also many "prospects" of more. Many persons are engaged in "prospecting" in this county and with every indication of success. Much of the soil is well adapted for agricultural purposes; and when the [navigation of the] Pekatonica and Rock rivers are rendered navigable, this must become one of the most important interior counties.
