Koshkonong Lake (The Lake we live on) an expansion of Rock river eight miles long and three broad, in the south [west] part of Jefferson County, Immediately at the entrance of the Lake there is a rapid current extending six hundred feet into the lake, with from only two to three feet depth of water; through the remainder of the lake on the usual track in boats and rafts, the water is from four to twelve feet deep. -Periphery 28 3/4 miles -area 21 sq. miles.
