Manitowoc Rapids, a town on the Manitowoc [illegible...crossed out...] miles above the mouth, thirty four miles from Green Bay and [ninety] 80 miles from Milwaukee; a water power of great force and value exists here, and several saw mills are in operation cutting pine lumber which is shipped on Lake Michigan to Milwaukee and Chicago. The river is navigable below these rapids to the lakes.
