Meadow River, a branch of the Red Cedar river of the Chippewa, entering from the west.

Memee Creek, a tributary of Lake Michigan, about twenty miles in length, entering the Lake three miles north from the mouth of the Sheboygan. It rises in Manitowoc county.

Mekalea (Small Pox) river-See Fever river.

Menomonee river, a large stream, entering the west side of Green Bay near its middle; and forming a part of the boundary between Wisconsin and Michigan. This river interlocks with some tributaries of Lake Superior and travelers often take this route, but the great number of portages and much difficult navigation renders this route much inferior to several others. For accurate information in regard to this river we are indebted to the government survey under the direction of Capt. Cram, who reports, that "it passes
