half a mile or more in breadth, through which
the stream winds about washing alternately the
bluffs on either side. It receives the East Branch in
the town of Granville, 8m long above the entrance of which
for the distance of two or three miles the bluffs
approach the stream on both sides leaving no bottom
lands.
