Menomonee Falls. P. Office. In the town of Menomonee Milwaukee county fifteen miles northwest from Milwaukee, where the Menomonee river passes [through] between perpendicular banks or ledges of limestone rock sometimes thirty feet in height. There is a fall here in the space of half a mile amounting to [about sixty] 48 feet. The limestone may be quarried in layers suitable for building of almost any desired thickness; and it is of excellent quality, resembling some coarse varieties of marble. Mills have been erected here, and various other improvements made, and the surrounding country is fast filling up with an industrious population. There is no perpendicular fall of water.

Menomonee rapids. The lower rapids of the Menomonee river of Green Bay, difficult of ascent or descent in canoes, where there is a dam and a saw mille, and also a trading establishment of some note.
