Mille Lac (Thousand Lake) a large lake, or rather a large group of small lakes, about one hundred and fifty miles above the mouth of Rum River, discharging themselves into that stream. The group is about twenty miles in diameter, and a portage of only one mile separates it from Muddy creek a small tributary of the Mississippi.
