So far as the rocks have been examined in this county they are limestone, mostly of a white color and disposed in thin horizontal strata. Some of it is very full of small cavities rendering it unfit for polishing, but still its hardness is much as to make it an excellent building material, and the lime made from it is very pure and white. The Muskego Lake is said to be so high that its waters can at a small expense be turned through the valley of Root river thus increasing thus rendering more valuable the water power along that stream.
