Pipe Stone Lake- a lake at the source of the Mauvaise river of Lake Superior from whence the Indians [der] procure a stone from which they manufacture pipes.

Pipe Creek- a tribuary of the Wisconsin river at Helena in Iowa county. It rises two miles north from Dodgeville.

Pishtaka (Fox) river, a large stream rising in the north part of Milwaukee county, and running south through the west part of Racine county, enters Illinois, and discharges its waters into the Illinois river at Ottowa. It is navigable for small boats from the foot of the rapids at Prairieville to near its mouth. It rises on ground about three hundred feet above Lake Michigan, at the mouth of Redfords run its elevation is two hundred and forty eight feet; at the foot of the Rapids at Prairieville it is two hundred and eleven feet, and at a point thirty miles south of the state line its elevation is one hundred and fifteen feet above Lake Michigan.
