Puckawena a Lake on the Namakagon River.

Puckawau (or Rice) Lake- [sometimes or spelled] Apuckaway.- an expansion of the Neenah or Fox river in Marquette county seven miles long and two broad. It is thirty nine miles below the Portage, and eighty miles above Lake Winnebago by the course of the river. It has been proposed to construct a canal from this lake to Dekorra on the Wisconsin river, thus passing the Portage and saving [illegible] circutous navigation on the Neenah; and a company has been incorporated by the legislature to construct the canal.
