Richland county is bounded on the north and west by Crawford county, on the east by Sauk, & on the south by Iowa and Grant counties; or on the north by the north line of town twelve, on the east by the east line of range two east, on the south by the Wisconsin river and on the west by the west line of range two west of the Fourth Principal Meridian. It is twenty four miles wide from east to west, and [and] about twenty five miles long, having an area of about six hundred square miles. It was established from a part of Crawford county in 1842.
