Schawgan Lake- a lake near Lake Winnepeck on the upper Mississippi.

Schoolcraft Island- a small island in Itasca Lake, so named in honor of Henry R. Schoolcraft who visited it in 1832. It is one hundred and fifty yards long, fifty yards wide, and about twenty or thirty feet high, rocky, and covered with pine, spruce, wild cherry, and elm trees.

Second Lake- One of the "Four Lakes" in Dane County next above the First Lake. its length is three and a half miles, and its width nearly two miles. The water is pure, and along the boat track has a depth of nine feet. On the north and east the shore is marshy with a low gravelly bank, intervening between the marsh and the water's edge; on the southern and western shores, the land is elevated, undulating, presenting high knobs and bluffs.
