Spirit Lake, a lake twelve miles long and four miles wide, of iregular shape containing several beautiful islands, near the source of Rum river. Its waters are transparent, and like most of the small lakes in Wisconsin abounds in fish.

Spirit Island, an island two miles in length in Lake Superior with steep banks now covered with a heavy forest of yellow pine. Itis held in great [reservation?] by the Indians who from some superstitious dread never encamp upon this "land of spirits" (Schoolcraft)

Spring Lake a small lake near Green lake in Marquette county.
