section. At the great bend of the Pishtaka there are many ancient works of interestm resembling lizard and flying dragons. Pop. 1840-187- Agreeably to the U.S. census of 1840 there be then in the town of Vernon 26 horses, 430 meat cattle, 179 sheep and 858 hogs; in 1839 there were produced 4005 bushels of wheat, 15 of barly, 770 of oats, 20 of rye, 313 of buckwheat, 2708 of Indian corn, and 2872 of potatoes; 3750 pounds of maple sugar were made and the dairy produce was valued at $293.-
