Walworth County.

well watered by numerous (24) lakes (mostly small) springs and rivulets dispersed
through the whole county; among the lakes are Geneva, Como
Turtle, Little Turtle & White bass Lakes; the streams are Mequango
Honey Creek, Sugar Creek, Geneva Creek, Turtle Creek, and Whitewater,
all of which have their sources within the county, and run
in opposite directions some into the Pishtaka and some into
Rock river. The position of Walworth county mid=way
between Lake Michigan and Rock river must render it
important for having a choice of markets for her
surplus produce. The principal villages are Troy,
Elkhorn, Geneva, Delavan, Sugar Creek and Fontana. The
first settlements were commenced in 1836.
