Mon 18 / Cold Unwell / All wrong / Rain
The Morning is more clear, some little cloudy the ground
froze & quite cold the wind is from the East I was verry unwell
with cold all night not fit to do any thing or make any Cal-
culations everything is going to destruction & I cant see to
it, let it go. Rained at night

1867 March Tu 19 / Rain / Blacksmith plows / Rankins wheat fan / Meal / William Mag / Unwell
It commenced Raining at dark last night & has rained nearly all
night not verry hard, the ground is verry wet & mudy The wind
& rain is back from the E. S.
I sent our plows to the Blacksmith shop yesterday Old Danl in
Columbia borrowed Rankins Wheat fan to Clean Oats & braught home
a hog that was there crippled. The Wind is now from the South
& the Weather has much moderated We are trying to shell Corn
to go to Mill & clean out Oats. William did not get home last
night. Mag went to Town this morning & William & her both got
home at night. I am bad off with cold.

It commenced raining some time in the night & has rained all
night & is still raining at 11 oclock today it is raining toler-
able hard. The Wind & rain is from the South East Mostly East
This is terable weather The rivers in the South & West are
higher than they ever was known, the Bridges across Tennessee
& all the other Streams are nearly all gone, Swept away Helena
is all gone, the levy has broken & washed away the Town, the
levy below Memphis some 10 or 20 miles have broke & the river
is 40 Miles wide Up & down the river greate distruction of
life & property every Where that can be heard of all the Bridges
