Just at the piging She was the only hog left by the Fedrel
soldiers (A.J. Smith Command) She had been shot several
times and was badly wounded but finely got well & has had 2
litters of pigs since she was shot. We kept her in the yard
& fed her a long time.
1867 April Tu 23 The morning is quite Cool & Cloudy I got a letter from Martha
Jane last night dated the 19th Inst the family

verry well at present
[Left margin: Work] The boys are all at work this morning planting Corn &
plowing &c It commenced raining after dinner slowly all day
[Left margin: Rain] & until late not quitting until next morning everything in the
garden is doing verry well turned cool Wm com home through
the rain quite cold
Wed 24 The Morning is quite cool the wind is from the North this
morning. I fixed a Scraper upon the Harrow & scraped the ridge
[Left margin: Potatoes] off the top of the Irish Potatoes they are coming up. We cut
off some of the tops in Scraping Not many they are doing verry well
[Left margin: Caleb] Caleb got a turn of corn today Charge on act.
Th 25 The Morning is quite cold Wind from the N. It would have frosted last night if the Wind had not been so high every
thing is growing verry well
[Left margin: Self] I was not verry well all night it is the change in the Weather,
