Making bricks and building ovens for cooks. Abt 40 new men arrived from AMC details Don't know what is to become of them.
10 Friday
Big mail arrived. On water fatigue for cook house. Took 4 horses down for water. Heard that Snowy Wilcox & Stanton are here
11 Saturday
Out for field work in morning with waggons. Rain fell heavily about dinner time preventing cricket match with 8th Eng. Raffle for Bill Capt North asked me to go to Ismailia tomorrow
12 Sunday
Visited Ismailia saw Bill Bailey. Troops now on the move for France. Came back with Baker W. O. of Camel Corps. Saw young Lenehan on Ismailia station

20 Monday
Inoculated, Artillery A. S. C. and numbers of troops leaving Tel-el-Kebir for France (presumably) Military Canteen now open [?] Graves mostly Scottish on other side of line
21 Tuesday
All day off. Saw Aust. mail going through to Cairo 4 Iron barred trucks. Met Ginger Smith & Cullen (spring healed Jack) of the Artillery. They left today Helmets issued. Tunics & long drill pants arrived. Artillery practice Plum pudding aswell
22 Wednesday
Still off duty. Eventful day Prince of Wales inspecting the camp accompanied by Gen. Irvine brother to our officer. Escort chiefly Indians. After saluting each regiment gave 3 cheers. Gas helmets arrived. Mail Day.

17 Monday
Beautiful Day. Swimming parade which we converted to Ismailia trip. Rode in on Amb waggons which were being returned to Ord. Face to face with Prince when stepping off punt. He was with Gen. Murray, holding a thermos flask. Good look round Ismailia including native quarter. Bought set of post card views. Met [Spoggie?] Cameron W.O. 5th Div A.S.C. missed train. Rode home to crossroads on limbers then from these to our camp on LH. horses bareback. Thrown off. Saw Prince on camel.

Water fatigue. Fine Day
19 Wednesday
Lovely Day Making sand-bag pit in morning. Route march in afternoon. Playing draughts at night. Shortages of uniform to be made good immediately on account of our prospective early departure for France

Another march with packs. Expecting to move for Alex in a few day preparatory to embarking. All Cameras to go home, none to reach France. All boots to be laced up in one way. Guy [Turner?] in Corps
30 Tuesday
Given out in orders that the 8th Field Amb. marched well on the 28th Saw graves of victims of the big march near by. Other graves further away. Good proof of previous rumours
31 Wednesday
Route march with packs up through Nefische. Arabs following. Swimming parade in evening to lake, 15th Brigade came across. Letter writing temp received
