Sir: Your telegram of the 15th instant has been received, and the following answer has been this day sent you by telegraph:

"Foulweather telegram received. Enquiries will be made at once. It appears from your telegram that the whole number of cases and pieces for Foulweather lantern, shipped by General Woodruff has been received by you."

With Woodruff's letter to Williamson of April first last, was sent a list of contents of sixteen boxes and sixteen pieces. All the parts you report as missing were included. Telegraph to Michler for the list. You must have made some mistake. If this will delay lighting beyond first of March inform The Board.

In regard to the floor lights, they do not appear in the list of contents of the boxes, but they are not essential to the lighting of the lens, and it can be done without them, temporarily covering the holes.

Enquiries will be made at once in regard to them, and if not found, they will be supplied. You are requested to inform the Board at once in regard to them.

Sir:

Upon further consideration of your recommendation of the 30th September last, that the contractor for construction of the Keeper's dwelling at the Cape Foulweather Light Station be allowed an extension of sixty days time from the first day of July next, the Board has decided to allow the contractor the extension asked - that is, until the 28th day of August next.
