Monday, January 21, 1918
A clear colde day. Ben walked to Renan this morning and got oil and coffee. Marvin loaded his waggon to go to Gretna tomorrow if nothing happens to hinder. I heard this evening that Anna Craddock was dead and will be buried tomorrow. I wish that the weather were so that I could go up there.
Josie got dinner to day. I made me a bonnett. I got a fall this evening the first time I have since the snow.

Thursday, May 16, 1918
A good day. We Mollie and I are at Willies.
Went down town early and Mollie bought some things then we started for the boat. Went on street car a mile or so then on the boat. Eat supper and had a berth. We had fish and steak cauiflowers and lettuce salid ice cream and cake and coffee for supper. Was all night and until seven next morning getting to Portsmouth.
This wrote the 17th. I could not find a pen or pencil last night.
Friday, October 11, 1918
A good day. The men folks plowed this morning. This evening Mr Owen raked pea vines. Ben went to Mr Bailiss. Josie and I stripped a little tobacco. We got our dinner this morning before we went to the barn cooked snaps and baked bread.
Come home at twelve and made coffee.
In the evening the tobacco dried out so we could not tie it. I picked up some apples and gathered some snaps. We went to Carries and strung our snaps. Come home. Josie got supper. I fed the chickens. Henry and I fed the hogs. We had to shuck the corn then I churned.
Ben has just got back from Bailiss and eat his supper.

Saturday, December 7, 1918
A cloudy day. Ben worked on Owens house. It has bin a busy day with Josie and I. Josie ironed most all day.
I went down to the cook room 15 to four oclock made a fire washed the supper dishes then got breakfast. Called the rest of them then we eat. After breakfast I cut up two pumpkins and put them on to cook then put on some meat to cook fed two calves and brought a bucket of water then milked two cows and sloped the pigs put on a liver and face to make scrappel then churned. Josie made bread and coffee for dinner. I washed up a lot of things and took up the meat for dinner then eat dinner. Took up the pumpkins and meat for scrapple and made the scrappel. Janie Gravley and Lucius Muriel Gravley and Effie Brumfield stopped here a few minutes on their way home from Danville. Well I have not room for any more.

Wednesday, February 12, 1919
A good day. Ben finished stripping his crop of tobacco today. Jim & Owen and I and Josie helped him.
Josie got dinner. Marvin come to the barn a few minutes. He is very bad off with a colde. Josie and Franklin has a bad colde.
Tonight Ben and Jim has gone to Strait Stone. We was out of oil and coffee.
