There is now no obstacle to the immediate construction of the Light House, the plans for which no doubt Col. Williamson has transferred to you. The lantern is now making at Portland, Maine, and will be sent to you at an early day.

Your attention is called to the fact that the appropriation will revert to the Treasury on the 1st July next, except so much of it as is covered by contract before that date, and if you find that you cannot complete it yourself by days works, you will make contracts before July 1st to cover the entire and finished structure.

Do you want a fog bell and apparatus for Yaquina?- If you do answer by telegraph and it will be sent to you.

The bill for survey of Yaquina reservation reffered to by your letter of the 18th instant can be paid if you con state on the face of the voucher, "ordered prior to July 1st, 1870"

Mileage cannot be paid to a civilian employe. In such cases actual necessary expenses, certified to by the employe are allowed.

I have to inform you that J. T. Ames of Chicopee, Massachusetts, has a contract for making a first order lantern for the Cape Foulweather Light House and has agreed to have it finished ready to be sent to you, Care of Col. Williamson, San Francisco, by the 1st of January 1872.

I have to inform you that the lantern for Cape Foulweather will be shipped to you, Care of Col. Williamson at San Francisco, by the next steamer from New York.

The lantern had better remain at San Francisco till arrangements can be made between you and Col. Williamson to have it shipped direct from San Francisco to Yaquina Bay.
