Saturday 14th Jany 1843. The weather since X has been quite changeable some very cold days. Sunday 15th the weather moderated now warm.

16th warm. 17th warm. 18th warm. 19th warm. 20th warm. 21st Still warm, from 10th to 15th Jany sowed the two Plant Beds on Branch above House.

20th Burnt & Sewed one Plant Bed in new ground. Began to Plow for corn 17th Jan'y. Began to mall Rails about middle Jany finished cutting down new ground, 16th Jany.

21st alse been sick one day. Bled her.

25th Fine weather yet, Sandy & Lowry both taken sick also Clementina.

27th Henry sick on the House — Morris & Jane also sick — still plowing for corn & malling. Mark Lain Hewed Plates for Kitchen Have 5 lambs to this date.

30th Jany 18423 Lowry very sick & Doct Thompson here to see him. He came to see me. Morris died. I think every when I was sick for one week & [ached?] to see Jacob last fall & This day snowing. Wednesday 1st Febry snowed very little warmed to rain & then turned off very cold. lowry a little better & Jane sick. Morris taken sick & Died about dark, dont know what was the matter with him.

2nd Morris Burried. Doct T. here again 1st & 2nd clear & tremendous cold.

3rd moderated a little. Cutting & malling up dry wood. 4th began to snow & Rain in morning. whether weather quite moderate some snow on ground. 5th

28th Began to Shoe make last Monday novr 1863 23nd Novr. Roland Cutting out all day3 oclock Sandy Shoemaking, Roland was not here Tuesday, here 5¾ of the days this week made me a pr my wife a pr Prides & Dorans & begun Matties, I found thread & Roland to make them.

Decr 5th 1863 Sandy has been shoemaking for nearly 2 weeks Mr Roland work 6½ 4 days making Mr Hunts childrens shoes - we have been Plowing and Halling to Gov -ment Stables for upwards of a week. Wk Green & Wyatt has been at Government Stables ever Since 4th Novr 1863 pr Bond Henry went Decr 5th 1863 pr Bond Abraham started 7th Decr 1863 as pr 1864 nd [The text "1864" is written in pencil between "pr." and "nd", apparently later.]

March 22nd Since Christmas many things has transpired & I have been from home nearly all the time as assesser, but I shall resign my commission as assesser shortly On this day week I left home for Pittsya Court & on 22nd very cold & Williams Collicler was with me going to Mrs Womacks to settle up & take her Rect for my acct of assessment

1852 May 29th Sent Jordan to Mill 2 Bus. Corn — — 31– Planting Tobacco all day to day Hired Geo Surry & June to help plant Beded & Planted nearly all the big Lot - clear & cool, - Cate gone to Mr Patricks Mrs McCullocks mare. to day —

June 1st PlowingPeggy sick her mama here, Jordan Dutch & Henry colter & weeding Branch Corn Jordan & Henry Lila Throwing from corn with McCormick

2nd weeding slipe next to corchard this morning Plowing & weeding bottoms below new ground Jordan gone to Mill, Sandy Plowing - weather clar & fair, went to Mrs McCullocks yesterday

3rd Federick went to Mill yesterday 7½ Bus corn, weeding corn next to Orchard Henry Plowing fresh ground corn, Jordan Plowing left side of Patch by middle Barn. Lila Coltering, Sheared Sheep this day all but 4 & Rain stoped us, A fine Rain this evening Turned cool -

8th Last saturday we Planted over our Tobacco again fresh ground & Lot very nearly all missing had to drop the plants at both places finished before night New ground not missing much replanting last evening balance on branch weeding corn next to Orchard in fresh ground Henry Jordan & sandy plowing big side next to middle barn rained yesterday & we Tobacco in evening assorted some still rains a little fine growing weather Went to Mr Fitzgeralds last Sunday & got backsame day

9 & 10. Plowed cotton & Potatoes & corn & weeding corn finished Drilled Corn next to Orchard

11th weeding & Plowing drill corn next to barn by mi dle Barn, & then went in evening to fresh ground where we are Plowing & weeding to day

14 Plowing & weeding corn below House & Plowing & Harrowing on Branch Plowed & weeding & Hilling up Sweet Potatoes Put Out Tobacco to Sun & Dew this day take us several days to get done weeding corn

1852 July 23rd Have sowed Cow Pen in Buck wheatbeen to Lynchg this week, sold our Last Tobacco, returned on Thursday Folks have been Hilling up fresh ground Tobacco hand weeding our new ground yesterday morning we finished plowing Our Corn, fine Rain yesterday we put up 4 Stacks Oats,- & some shocks, Fair day, Treading out wheat, hand weeding Tobacco & replanted Lot this morning ———

26 Plowing & Hilling up our Lot Tobacco Rained a little fine growing weather - Plowing Turnip Patch Pea Patch in cotton Patch & sowed Turnips in Garden etc fine weather about this time

27 Sewed Turnips in Garden & Plowed Patch Plowing Peas by Cotton Patch Harrowing Tobacco to kill the Grass etc etc —

28th Halling up wheat cleaning lot Tobacco on Branch Irish Potatoes etc etc

29. Plowing Halling up & finished Stackingwheat Oats & fencing them in Hilling up new ground

30 Hilling up new ground & trying to get this morningdone Henry Plowing Tobacco on Branch in Lot — Hilled up Broom Corn & Peas at Cotton Patch, Turned Hogs in Pasture at Stony Pint My wife gone to John D Hunts Cate Mr Fitzgerald

31 Choping fresh ground corn & working Peas in corn field shower rain yesterday —

augt 1st went to J D Hunts myself — 2 Plowing & Hilling up Branch tobacco in Lot 3. Henry sick choping out new ground Tobacco We went to Major Grastys

4th Fine Rain last night, little cool for 2 days & nights this morning all in house spining etc etc sent by major Grastys for to Evard for my watch

5th Foggy this morning & warm growing weather Toping & Hilling up fresh ground Tobacco —

6th Sowed Turnips yesterday Hilling up second years ground Henry Riving boards, fine growing weather, Mrs Smith Funeral this day etc etc ——

9th went to Capt Fitzgerald after machine got it began to thrash about 12 oclock & finished Tuesday Evening 1 hour by Jacob sandys axe lost, not found yet

1852 Augt 11th Rained last night a fine Rain & this morning Started with machine to help Mr Fitzgerald clear this morning 3 hands & 3 Horses gone to help him –

12th my wife went to Mrs Hunts yesterday & to day to see Mrs Jno Hunts stayed all twice lately & Mrs Hunt I went to meeting yesterdayis very low & Julia Daniel & sick

13th Toping Tobacco yesterday & to day also worming & succoring This we are Hilling up Lot again & faning out wheat -Baptising at Strait Stone to day —

16 went to Court Henry Jordan & sandy & 3 horses has been 4 days Mr Fitzsat gone back again this morning choping Corn on BranchHenry got home from Carrying machine homeabout 11 Oclock in night

17 Rained a fine Rain last night Henry came home from carrying the machine to Capt Fitzgerald about 11 Oclock in night fine Rain Sent to Millers Mill spining this morn[in]g

18- Toping & worming Tobacco & finished Hilling up Lot to day Sewed Turnip Patch over again

19. Beeting apples Toping Tobacco etc etc –

20. Toping & worming Tobacco & Beeting apples etc Drying fruit, Sent Fed to shop & Mrs Hunts, carried to shop 3 McC ^ Plows 2 to sharpen & 1 to p[a]int Iron to Iron waggon & 1½ Bars for Plantation Sent 2 Grub Hoes to sharpen 1 oxe yoke to put Ring & staple in for young steers 1 little auger to mend. Sent to Mrs Hunts for 1 Bblcorn she gave us

21st went to Mrs Colemans Hillfield plantation & Wm Wallers yesterday, Rained all night nearly - cloudy this morning & Raining Fed mending Jacob shoes working on Baskets & spining, very warm fine growing weather Halling rocks for chimney to Henrys house eveningin

22nd Rained nearly al night very wet growing weather etc etc
