Dearest "Dude,"

Just received your letter of Jan. 20. the first in four months and am glad to know you liked my small gift.

I am sure having a fine time up here. Last Tuesday I went over to the famous health resort called Nuenahr, It is now being used as an amusement center by the Y.M.C.A. In the morning I had a sulphur bath in a marble lined room,

Letterhead: AMERICAN Y.M.C.A. logo ON ACTIVE SERVICE WITH THE AMERICAN EXPEDITIONARY FORCE

March, 10, 1919 Mayschoss, Germany

My Dearest Sweetheart "Dude,"

If good news, dear, we've been slated to sail for home in the early part of next month. So expect me home sometime in May.

Mother writes that you call-ed the other day and delivered my picture. I want to thank you and your brother for your trouble. Also Mildred dear, you did a greater service for me by cheering Mother up by your winning ways and happy smiles. Dearest, I'm going to ask you to do a wonderful service for me if you will.

Will you, dear girlie, when ever time permits, call on my Mother and try to cheer her up?

my girlie is enjoying her work, as that is really the only kind of job to have, one that you really enjoy preforming.

I have planted here a great big kiss for [large open space here] my sweetheart, my girl of the golden West. It's for you, my own, from far away Germany, from your lover who is patiently waiting for the opportunity to be with you again.

From your lover
