to whom was referred Petition for Sewer from Tidewater up Depot Street

beg to report that Petition be granted and that sewer be placed on Depot Street from Bay to Ash Street

affording connections with the Lake Union Boulevard. 2.--Lake Avenue is already graded from the Bay to Depot Street, a distance of five blocks, and cannot be closed without working a detriment to the property of those citizens who have already paid grade taxes with the understanding that the street would be further extended according to the plats dedicating it to the City for street purposes. 3.--That the land comprising said Avenue was dedicated to the public for street purposes only, and we protest against the City vacating the land for the benefit of a few abutting property owners, who comprise a very small fraction of the public, and who have fathered the aforementioned petition simply for their own selfish ends, and not from any regard for the public welfare.

Your petitioners respectfully represent that they are tax-payers and residents along in the vicinity of Howell Street in the City of Seattle. That the said street is traveled a great deal being the principal street to the cemetery and Lake Union, but this same has been for the past few months past very muddy and almost impassable and is now very badly cut up. WHERETOFORE, your petitioners respectfully petition your Honorable Body to plank the said Howell Street on both sides of the street car track or if this is impractible at least on one side from Eighth Street to Depot Street and your petitioners will ever pray.

The petition of the Trustin P. Dyer [sic] and others for the planking of Howell St from 8th Street to Depot Street was referd [sic] to me for the estimate of cost. I would recommend that Howell Street be planked on the South Side from 8th Street to 10th St, and on the North Side from West side of 10th St to East Side of 14th St at a cost not to exeed ($1,478.00). Fourteen hundred and seventy five dollars. From 14th St to Depot st is planked in center of Street
