In answer to your query 1A/230 of 9th. inst.

I have to advise that "Melginch" means eye-itching. It is a word of the Burramgun tribe from Dawson Valley.

The Superintendent, Cherbourg Settlement, via MURGON.

Enquiry has been made at this Office as to whether the word "Melginch" is an anoriginal one and if so its definition has been requested.

The word in question was the name of a property in the Dawson Valley many years ago.
