Be pleased to accept this as my resignation of the office of Attorney General for the fifth solicito =rial district in the State of Tennessee-

The circuit court for this county will sit on next [illegible] day, when it will be indispensibly necessary [that] Atto. Genl. pro. Tem. should be in attendance, There is in this district a very important and heavy criminal docket. and one that will re= =quire the prompt attention of a man of expiri= =ence [sic] and industry to manage to the public in= terest-

Your Memoralists - Delegates from the Counties of Rutherford - Warren- Cannon - White Jackson - Smith + Overton in Connection assembled at Sparta respect -fully shew to your Excellency That the Legislative of 37 +38 in chart -tering the Bank of the State of Tenn -essee were [activated?] not only by a desire to advance the causes of Internal Improvement and popular education, but intended to distribute with an even hand the bene -fits of the Institutions in the way of Banking facilities to every section of the State by the location of Branches at such points as would carryout and perfect that design.

Your Memorialists are reluctantly constrained to believe that a majority of the Board of Directors have been unmind -ful of their duty in locating the Branches at the places recently selected by them + we [offer?] ourselves + in behalf of the large and intelligent portion of the Citizens of Tennessee represented by us [amid?] ourselves of the occasion to make our solemn protest + to express our de -liberate connection that the Directors
