Sept Will and Charley here awhile. Wells and Will fixed Will's fence. Grace went home with Jill and she and Welly cut Eddy Bate's hair I picked corn for dinner and made cake & biscuits and Evaline washed dishes while I finished my letter to Victor. Welly cut Johny's hair. Jen came up in evening and I went home with her and we went out with lantern and picked apples from the old miles tree (sweet) to cook in sugar. Will had gone down to Smiths to borrow his buggy to drive to the Ferry in the morning. Welly, Evaline, Johny, and Grace went to prayer meeting. In the evening I studied the History of England awhile and went to bed

10 Monday A fine day. Wind south west Will couldn't get Smiths carriage but went early and borrowed John Nile's. Smith had lent his to Pelton picture man from Watertown. Jen came early this morning. Welly and Johny went to Horn's to thresh. Hiram Joslin drove here for Welly. I picked beans and corn for dinner. Grace and Evaline ironing and sewing on Johny shirt. Wells went to O'Brien's to help fix the buggy and stayed till eleven O'clock.

March 20th Thursday 1890 A half cloudy day. Wind South rather strong tearing a channel clear down through from Carlton to Clayton. Welly boiling sap. Grace at school. John drove to Edd's for the provender, E took the Baby and went as far as her fathers with John. Hiram Joslin brought her home. All and Eddy B went over river in punt. J Niles went too. R here twisting and doubling yarn. I not well. Eat too many pickles. Churned. Scalded milk for a sick calf.

March 21st 1890 Friday chilly 21 eggs cloudy day. Wind South. E washing. Welly & I make two kettles of soap, churned again. Rained some in fore noon. After noon cleared up again sun shone out. Welly goes to sap boiling & came home late at eleven. John at J N's playing pedro, came later than Welly J.M. and W Dixon here

Wellie's dog. They went to Millens bay but could get no trace of the dog. Evening time Frank Woodman brought down one of their horses and hitched up to V's cutter and they went to River View to a donation held at the hotel for the Rev Stronger and came home at 12 Oclock midnight, traveling on ice fine.


Wednesday 28 and last day in Feb 1894 A fine day. Wind S.W. Wellie gone again to the city with hogs. Wells working in the shop at something. A man from Gananoque called to sell a harness. Did not buy. Voltie went towards evening to Walls's to cut E some wood, came up home and brought with him Hiram Davis & son and Derush. They had been to Clayton to the races, went down on an ice boat but no wind coming up so they pushed the boat as far as here and stoped here to supper. Left later and and [sic] walked home 7 miles. V went up by Niles to help Wellie across. The big clock hose up like a mountain. Mart at school

Sunday 8 July 1894 A dry cool day, Wind West. Wellie came up in a skiff and I went home with him and stayed all day. Grace went to church. Maud & V stayed home after church. V came to Wellies too and ate dinner & supper. Voltie and Hiram there and Frank Woodman. George & Wall Niles, Rafter, Russel and Will McD and Wellie brought me up in skiff.

Monday 9th July 1894 A warm dry day. Wind South. Grace made Maude a dress and sewed most all day. I wrote Rogers & Kirkpatrick a letter, Grace wrote to Watson. Wellie and Voltie mowing and raking hay down by Wellie's. I hoed corn. Wellie came for the sewing machine

fury indescribable. The billows roll up like hills of water and the river is white with flying spray which soars, rolls and tumbles on the shore with a sound like thunder all day long, snow flying. Wind wrenched Niles barn door off. Niles cattle stood in stable all day and horses too except the colts are all day running in out door yard. Our cattle turned out longe enough to drink. Freezing quite hard in p.m. V went to J.N.'s to borrow tea. Frank Woodman came down to make a visit, found V gone so didn't stay long. just after night fall in walked Mr Hiram Davis looking for voters, his supper and nights lodging and breakfast and he gets all and welcome. They sit up till 10 p.m. spinning yarns of various kinds. I get sleepy and go to bed. barometer very low, below 29, two full
