Wolfe Island Sept 4th 1888 Tuesday A warm bright cloudless day, wind south. Volty is in Watertown. Welly, Evaline, Johny, and Grace are gone to a picnic in Breakys grove. Wells, Maud and I at home. Wells has a lame knee, but has gone down by Ebbs to water the young stock. Bill and Will are gone to Kingston to conclude the bargain for Will's place. Will Woodman's child is very sick with Erystashia [Erysipelas]. I just finished writing a letter to Watson. James O'Brien came to see Wells about the school house fence. Four ministers at the picnic including Thompson and his family and old John Lockheart the Bible agent.
5th Wednesday Rained some in the night, wind changed to north, cool all day John went early this morning to Wellingtons to help thresh but didn't work untill towards evening. Welly went over to Rattrays & helped fix the machine and moved it to Burnhams after carrying E down to Burnhams to help Alvira. They came back

Wednesday May 13 1891 Another fine warm day light wind South. John drove to factory. Will came over and engaged Volty to drive to Joys for fish and fish pound while Will went up this shore to run his net. R went to Ebb's borrowed his boat rowed it to J. Nile's to meet Will & W. Jr
Volty came back with the fish pound and a bag of potatoes from W Burnish R went home dressed came back and went to the cape with Will. Grace and I got Greens for dinner. Will brought me one pound tea and 5 sugar which is 46 cts. R rowed the boat down to Ebbs. Welly came in the evening for his things Will brought from cape. J. & V. plowed in orchard. V borrowed $1.25 of Will. Will paid John a dollar which he owed him. John let V have the dollar. Grace finished cleaning my bedroom

1890 Tuesday Jan 28th A fine winter day sun shining brightly, cold wind N, the river frozen over, a light fall of snow on the ground that fell last night. Welly not very well yet but he hung out the clothes Eveline washed yesterday. I am lying on my book in bed writing this. Grace is cooking beans and beef. John stops home from school to help his father draw hay from the old barn. Poor dear little Muriel is sick with worms. I am not well yet, but much better. Wells sleeps on the lounge every night by the stove to keep fires going. Two men crossed here on the ice today by Ebb's. Welly went to the corners for worm medicine for the baby and got blue calico for Bell & Eveline came back after dark. John & Grace go to Rattrays for evening visit.
