Sept Will and Charley here awhile. Wells and Will fixed Will's fence. Grace went home with Jill and she and Welly cut Eddy Bate's hair I picked corn for dinner and made cake & biscuits and Evaline washed dishes while I finished my letter to Victor. Welly cut Johny's hair. Jen came up in evening and I went home with her and we went out with lantern and picked apples from the old miles tree (sweet) to cook in sugar. Will had gone down to Smiths to borrow his buggy to drive to the Ferry in the morning. Welly, Evaline, Johny, and Grace went to prayer meeting. In the evening I studied the History of England awhile and went to bed

10 Monday A fine day. Wind south west Will couldn't get Smiths carriage but went early and borrowed John Nile's. Smith had lent his to Pelton picture man from Watertown. Jen came early this morning. Welly and Johny went to Horn's to thresh. Hiram Joslin drove here for Welly. I picked beans and corn for dinner. Grace and Evaline ironing and sewing on Johny shirt. Wells went to O'Brien's to help fix the buggy and stayed till eleven O'clock.

Sept to him Will went to Kingston to day, again on business Wells went to water the young cattle and brought up some corn Eddy Bates called here for his vest that John had wore down from Sam's Old Mrs Suttle burried [sic] to day Laura went down yesterday on the St Lawrence to Alexandria bay Evaline come home and gone to sweeping and patching Wellie's overalls. After dinner E washed dishes and she & W went down to Burnhams in skiff. I skimed milk and churned. It rains, some wind more in north. Marjorie and Maud agreed about one thing—to make all the noise they possibly can. Wells gave Grace a dollar to spend at the fair. Evaline helped Wells milk

14th Friday A clear fine day Wind South Evaline went to sew for Sylvia. Maryanne Barry drove O'Briens horses to John's pound. Sam's black colt missing since yesterday morning I washed and baked bread Sylvia and Coruwith here tonight. Wells Jr and

Monday 14 Jan 1890 A stormy day snowing and blowing all day to day & all last night drifting into cattle and horses stay in stables. Mr Woodman's driving their cattle through the blinding storm to the river to water. Will D has no coal for their stove. Would like to have grandmother over if she could get here. Grace sewing a quilt. I sew and cut carpet rags.


Tuesday 15 Jan 1895 A stormy day snowing and blowing. Very doubtful if OBrien goes for the mail. Ought to write a letter but not get time, cannot wash no soap. Voltie went in evening to Mr Niles for tobaco. Mart folowed [sic] him under pretence of going to post office. OBrien drove down on ice with mail (or Soban) J OBrien gone to a weding. Miss Dee married to a Brown. Snowed all day; cold medium. Morgan's boys at J Niles; played cards

hard rain and wind terrific. Voltie hitched up and went for Maud, Shelly & Milly and bring them from School. Mr Niles came home from Marysville through all the storm. He drove up in his buggy. The ice from Marysville to Kingston very poor


Jan 25 Thursday 1894 Voltie came down stairs this morning singing after the ball is over. A still bright clear morning. Wind N, ground bare and frozen, ice glittering in the sunlight. Wellie, Voltie, Mart and Wells Sr went to Lindas Island for wood found the ice good for a double team and heavy load, drew one load for Wellie. After dinner Grace to get subscribers for the Ladies World but got wrong, went to C Woodmans, Obriens, Barrys. After supper she went to Mrs Niles to make an evening call. Voltie went with Will, H Woodman to Clubbing bay on ice foat [sic] for oil, had to push the boat most of the way over and back again. about 8 pm. George Morgan Jr came home with V and stayed till 10 PM

Jan 26 Friday 1894 Sun rose clear but soon grows cloudy, a very cold morning wind East. Voltie, Mart & Wells Sr drew wood from the Isle. Wellie went to grapple for his sturgeon net. ground bare and hard frozen with the furrows and hollows filled with ice. The weather clouds and air threatens snow and hope we will get good sleighing for we have had none this winter. Wells is just saying that before long the roads will be so filled with snow that it could be hard to get through the snow.


Saturday Jan 27th 1894 A fine day. Wind SE, very pleasant, about an inch of snow on the ground and ice. Wellie, Voltie & Mart drawing the straw stack in the barn all A.M. Wellie stayed to dinner. Made E a lemon cake. After dinner V went to O'Briens to get the horses shod. O'Brien not at home - gone visiting sturgeon net. Wells Sr making a lounge from an old bedstead. I mended clothes and ironed patch work pieces. Grace cleaned floors &c &c
