4th July Wednesday Wind West cool and refreshing. Wellie hoeing Haynes potatoes. Voltie mowing with machine. Grace washing all forenoon then went over to Wills and made out butter for market and done big ironing and walked over to Dignams and home again. Will D here this eve for ice. Fine cool evening. Niles family went to Cape to celebrate fourth July. Lidy Ranous went with them. Wind West and blowing a smart breeze all day. Quinn Beadle raised his big barn to day.


Thursday 5 July 1894 A cool breeze day same as yesterday. Wind West. Wellie & Will D gone to Kingston. Voltie milked and Eveline milked the cows. Grace with the Milly, Voltie, Doctored Haynes potatoes for bugs. After dinner went for a load of bean poles and raked hay and milked the cows again and came home and done all the chores. Grace drove to dock for Wellie thinking to go with the Digmans to Lafleur party. K & G wouldn't go for they had had no invitation. Grace went to Well's again to work to day.

drove to the field to plow all the afternoon. Maud picked up some apples and paired [sic] & strung some. Grace cleaned all the house reading all the evening in the book Nelly sent me "In All Shades" by Grant Allen, a fine book.


Sunday 7 October 1894 A most beautiful day quit [sic] bright warm clear & serene. Not many such day will come this fall, what a lovely day to drive over to Bells. But we have no way to go only in the old farm waggon. Well we are alone all day. Wellie came up to help milk in the morning & evening & went directly home again. After dinner Maude went to Mr Niles and Grace went to Wills & Welly, Rube McF & another fellow from Clayton with two children a Keys fellow married to one of Bill Steeles daughter. They all had stayed at Wellies. Will D & Grace went over to Dignums in the evening, young Doctouer came there.

Frank Woodman & Wallace Niles there. Voltie & I at home all day went nowhere. I broke the Sabbath by reading "In all Shades". Wellie says Eveline is going tomorrow to Clayton with Reube but they may be disapointed for so very fine a day this time of the year is generaly followed by by [sic] wind.


Monday 8 Oct 1894 Wind sprang up in South about midnight and has been blowing half a gale all day. Apples are constantly falling and turkeys are picking them to pieces. Maud gone to school. Grace washing. Voltie drew a load of sand from the foot. Barometer falling. clouds are fast gathering in S.W. for a storm. We had apple dumplings for dinner. I gathered the quail head beans and a few apples. The rain fell in torrents from 4 Oclock till bed time. Frank Woodman here in evening; his father got a kink in his neck wanted something to cure it. Frank Woodman [illegible] Digman stealing our apples.

Tuesday 9 October 1894 A mild cool day, cool enough to have closed doors. A real beautiful autumn day with floating white clouds. Voltie working away at the piggy wall in front of house. Maud at schoool. Voltie drove to factory this morning as he does every morning but this morning he requested Kenny to tell Herb Dignam to keep himself and mother out of our orchard. Grace moped the floors Miss Mary Digman made us an afternoon visit. Mrs Niles came too. Said she would like to weave my carpet and I think I will sent it to her to weave. Grace went part way home with Mary. Maude went too. Voltie pared a bushel basket full of apples. A letter from F.W. Watson


10 Oct Wednesday Last night the moon had a golden ring and barometer falling fast. This morning the rain is falling too Wind & rain all day but pastures, woods and meadows as green as spring time. I quartered cored & strung the apples. [illegible] hung them up. no plowing done to

Saturday March 19th 1898 A cloudy morning and raiining most of the day. V & Mart went to the nets, but got no fish. Mr N went to Kingston. V repairing bellows. Wellie here. Flora here for yeast cake. Frank Woodman here in evening. In the kitchen horn blowing expected Jimme but he came not. Edna moped kitchen floor. Irene washed dishes and made scrap books. Edna & Maud picked a pansy from Charles Woodmans grave. A thunder & Lightning shower after dark. E & M went to Ns for the balance of butter 2 pounds.

Sunday March 20 1898 A half cloudy day, Wind S and blowing half a gale. Quiet, all are reading minds at peace with all created universe to quiet, to still which causes droziness. Evening V, M. G & E. preparing to go calling on Mrs Dignam, when V comes in and reports a sick cow at the barn & after doctoring her awhile again prepare for the evenings visit, when who should walk in but FW, WR, and WN and when one youngsters are ready to depart, they invite our callers to accompany them, and two accepts but [Frank Woodman|F]] prefers staying away from Dignams, so remains and Sr entertains him with various tales & anecdotes
