27 Nov Wednesday Wind West, cold & freezing. Boys plowing. Ed Bates picking his turkeys for market. Maude at school. Grace lining and finishing baby Grace's hood. Grace got a bad cold. Johns letter announces the arrival of a girl baby. John is pleased and so are all of us. Dear old John. Maud at school.

Monday 24 April 1899 A clear day but wind North and breezing. Gran abed till after breakfast. Maud at school. Grace washing. Wells Sr fixing fence. Wells Jr cultivating for wheat. the wharf. During the present month we have a plowing bee, 8 teams and their drivers. The neighbours were good to help us. ...Saturday 1896 ...day. The heat is intense ...very little air stirring the leaves— ...ndlers with a dim line of haze around the [Ho...yor?]. The boys (Wolfe Island boys) gone on Weaver yacht to a baseball contest with Claytonions. We don... our usual Saturday's work & churned. Maude went strawberrying for dinner and in p.m. went to see Inez Niles. Will and Jess Reid fishing today Weaver went to Cape with fish for Miss Dixon. Reid & Niles this am before going to Grindstone with the baseball player. Bernard Morgan left at home, proceeded to get himself there the best way he could. Our boys were beaten at the base ball game by those Clayton fellows. Grace this evening went up to Morgans with Bernard in our boat. Voltie went early to bed
