13 Oct Saturday 1894 Wind South. Raining all and rains this morning. W Jr, E & children stay till after dinner. Wind Squalls with rain all day. E made Grace & I each an apron; bought the cloth yesterday in Clayton. Grace cleaned floors. Boys finsihed J.N's oars. P.M. Voltie in cellar making an apple bin. I pared quartered cored and strung more apples & hung them to dry. Shell N and another little girl here named Hattie McKeever from way back. Enroute for the USA accompanied by her grandmother. McK who at present is stationed at Mr John Niles' awaiting an opertunity [sic] to cross the river St Lawrence. He said little one having been kidnapped by her grandmother from a brutal step-daddy, and is secretly conveying her to the glorious land of Liberty, after being very closely questioned by a police officer. any thing, Edith brought in some wood and got the apples and potatoes by 12 dinner time. I called her from the kitchen to set the table where she was standing. 10 Thursday Nov 1916 Arose early. V went to Kingston. Emma drove over to dock taking Rachels fowl which was brought here last night when V came from "Over There".
