1845 Feby 22 this week Mr Moon has got shingles to cover Old House & he Began to strip tobacco in Big Barn on Hill this day - 21st halled lugs out of Mr Grastys new ground this day.
26th Feby. Beautiful weather allmost like May- Jas C. Hunt married yesterday 25th Feby 1845 — Shingling our old House this day Burning log Heaps etc etc Plowing in mountain field Mr Moon left on Thursday 27th Feby & Irby on Friday 28th without finishing
March 1 Children started to school this day -Jeremy at Stony Point & Plowing -Planted Irish Potatoes, English Peas & onions etc etc began to prize Lugs
7 I went to Rice to meeting
8 Raining & we are stripping Tobacco weather changed & a good deal cooler In Jany 1845 made a bargain Mr Jas Murphy to Plaster my House & white wash it to be finished off as I want it for $45. But If I think myself this work is worth $47.50$ I am to give him that sum the two Dolls and fifty cents is at my discretion which sum of $45 I am to pay said Murphy March or april 1846 - this is our contract

28th June 1849 replanted Tobacco over & began to cut wheat again at home weather very Hot, Keen lightening yesterday Jane Laying bycorn in fresh ground to day
29 Fed & myself cut wheat at Mr. Neals. Henry gone to Mrs Colemans to cut wheat. 3 Plows Laying by corn in fresh ground & drill corn to day ——
30 4 Plows Laying by corn this side branch Henry went to shop to have Plows sharpened Sewed Peas worked with Hoe & Plowed Pea Patch, on Branch, Planted cucumber seed in Plant Bed, weeding Tobacco in big second years ground. weather very dry & warm My wife & children going to Edge Hill
1st July quarterly meeting – – = " cloudy & likely for Rain, my wife & children 1849 gone to Edgehill meeting this day Lila & Annto Green field July 1st In the Evening we had a fine Rain

4 Laying by corn left side Path this field, been laying by ever since friday last. weather cool at night days warm. Pulled up flax yesterday Finished weeding new ground & second yrs land laid by a pt of branch corn yesterday — Weeding Branch Tobacco below, spring weather clear & nights cool etc etc etc

23 Halling out manure on Turnip Patch Finished Hilling new ground & second yrs Land & Hilling up Lots = Planted snaps on Hill last Saturday - Weather clear & dry My wife & children gone to Mrs Hunts to see the Charlotte Poeple etc.
24 Hilling up Branch Tobacco & also newlot Stacking Oats this morning - clear & fair Catharine S. starts to Mrs Walkups school at $1½ pr month say for every 20th days goesshe
25. Raining this morning began Just before day then Rfull for it. very much needed. Spining & shelling Corn Mr Myers here nearly finished working with hay yesterday both lots Stacked Our Oats yesterday light Crop
21 Rained another shower last evening Toped over our Tobacco yesterday & wormed it over Thinning corn last evening & this morning, sent for waggon at shop Plowing Turnip Patch & Part of Pea Patch on Branch - cloudy likeRain for
27 Halling Logs for Barn & shrubing for corn began to clean up on Johns branch This morning alse ann, Lila cutting down beans, yesterday we Harrowed our cotton & finished putting little dirt to our Lot Tobacco Halling Logs & shrubing in fresh ground Fed & Jane cloudy & like for rain
28. Raining a little this morning, worming Lots this morning - Raining finely to day — cleaning up on Johns branch. Lila alse & ann - Jordan & Lowry choping in corn
29th went to Mr McCullocks funeral to day pd Lewis $5 Recd Robl for 1 pr old [?eg] wheels

1854July 1st Weather very Hot & dry Fed gone to shop with Cart this evening Hilled up Sweet Potaotes this morning my Spungy made ½ machine sheet Laying by Corn in fresh ground choping etc etc in Corn & weeding down Tobacco — — —
8th Done Cutting Oats got up nearly all our wheat replanted Tobacco – went to Lynchg & sold all of our Tobacco, for tolerably prices only @$6Hoghd sold for $5.50, choped in Corn this week pulled up flax, Hilled up Cotton & Greens & Pens
12 finer Rains Since last Thursday Friday & Sunday worked out Lot Tobacco yesterday & now choping in Corn & thining nearly done laying by with ploughs, my wife went to Mr Fitzgeralds & carried Mrs Neal, etc etc Very clear this morning & at little cool
19. went to meeting last Sunday & from there Me & Kate went on to CH, my wife & children went to Mrs Hunts & returned at night, & Monday evening went up to Mr Fitzgeralds & Come back a little we came from CH, fine Rain Monday about chalk Level Monday evening, we are very dry Our Folks work 3rd yrs Tobacco & new ground this I Guanoed Lot, done over once
21 clearing of wheat yard to thrash wheat very dry & Hot, here fine shower above yesterday we stacked our Oats & got 4 or 5 Loads of Good Hay Henry Sick, Jordan Harrowing in Corn by fresh ground Barn
