A little rain today.
Ben and Paul topped tobacco a while today.
Josie got dinner. She made a stew and had snaps and cymblins and corn all good. Mrs Owens come a while. We all went and looked at the garden then to the tobacco ground to see the tomatoes and water mellons and bean patch.
I went to Marvins a few minutes. Their cow is sick. I wrote to Evylin Brumfield today.
I have fixed some butter to night for Kate Harvey. [scratchy ink blots] I guess I have the meanest pen about here.

Friday, August 2, 1918
A good day. Ben and Owen and Paul pulled leaves to day. Marvin Smith and William Gilbert (col) helped them. Nearly all the children that was big enough handed leaves. This evening Fanny Emerson Josie and I helped some. Josie got dinner. She cooked snaps and beets and butter beans and corn. Mrs Owen sent her the corn.
To night Paul and Fanny has gone to meeting at St. Johns. (ink smear) Well I went to sleep I made my mark.

Monday, August 5, 1918
A good day and very warm. Ben and Paul suckered tobacco. Josie got dinner. I do[d]ged a round as usual.
This evening we went to Marvins. Kate Harvey come here and then to Marvins.
Marvin had water mellons the first I have seen this year. Josie come by the corn field and got snaps. I got a basket of tomatoes.
Heard this morning that Julia Fergerson has a daughter born the 4th.
Josie and I wrote to Thelma and Mary.

Monday, September 2, 1918
A good day. Ben and Owen fired tobacco all day. Paul suckered tobacco. Ben and Josie went to Strait Stone a few minutes this evening.
Josie got dinner. We had snaps and peas the first peas that we had this year.
George Blair come over here and got some water melons this evening. Paul and Ben will stay at the barns to night.
