Friday, August 2, 1918
A good day. Ben and Owen and Paul pulled leaves to day. Marvin Smith and William Gilbert (col) helped them. Nearly all the children that was big enough handed leaves. This evening Fanny Emerson Josie and I helped some. Josie got dinner. She cooked snaps and beets and butter beans and corn. Mrs Owen sent her the corn.
To night Paul and Fanny has gone to meeting at St. Johns. (ink smear) Well I went to sleep I made my mark.

Saturday, August 3, 1918
A good day. The men folks filled a house with primings. Josie handed leaves nearly all day. I went this evening. Fanny helped this evening. Fanny went to Mr George Emersons this evening. Paul carried her on the buggy. Jim and Nellie and Evelyn come today. I am glad that they come.
I had a letter from Thelma to day saying that she will come to see us soon.

Tuesday, August 19, 1919
A good day. Jim & Ben saved [?] tobacco leaves. Paul Bennett & William Gilbert helped and Rees Smith and two of the Owen boys and Henry all handed leaves.
Mr Tup Walker & Nellie & Evylin Brumfield come to day. This evening Charles and Virginia Harvey come. I was very glad to see them and Charles indeed as he had bin a way so long. Glad he was lookin so well.
The men folks is at the barn yet and little Henry is with them.

Tuesday, September 2, 1919
A good day. Jim staid at the barns to day. Ben & Owen and Marvin and Paul Bennett and William Gilbert (col) all worked on Bens tobacco pulling and hangin leaves. I handed leaves all day.
Josie got dinner & churned. Put out some apples to dry. The school teachers want to know what to depend on and worrie Ben lots.
Jack Harvey come this evening and got Jake and the buggy. I hope he will take care of them.
Jim Emerson passed here to day with ladies on the car.
We had peas for dinner today. They come from George Blairs.
