A good day. Ben got Marvins horses and hauled logs and worked four horses to the truck. Paul helped to load on the logs.
Paul carried Dr Owen to see Mr Dews this morning. He had Bens car. Willie Mayhew has a very sick childe the Dr was to see it today. Clifton is still very sick. Marvin and Carrie went to see Doris Brumfield this evening. Josie and I and the Owen children and Henry finished stripping a curing of tobacco for Paul. We finished a bout twelve. This evening Cordie Blair and Doratha Worsham and Ada Hutcherson come a while. Ellen Bailiss and Louise Hutcherson come to bring some patterns that Josie let Mamie have.

Monday, April 7, 1919
A good day. The men folks plowed until twelve then [?] this evening.
I went to Owens. I churned and dodged a round most of the day. I went to Carries a few minutes this evening.
Cordie & Nettie Blair and Ada Hutcherson come this evening. They said that Lottie Craddock has a daughter. Denia Blair has gone up there to see her.
Ben & Jim caught a turtle in the branch. I dressed it for Henry. The Owen boyes has bin here most all day.

Friday, April 18, 1919
A cool day. Ben sawed wood for Marvin this morning and shucked corn this evening. Marvin & William helped them. They finished getting up the corn & hauled the stalks and cut them up then cut down the cickamore tree. Jim bought some meal from John Hutcherson and a peice of meat from George Hutcherson.
Josie got dinner & starched the clothes.
This evening Cordie and Nettie Blair and Ada Hutcherson come and Beatriss Owen and several children. Three of Willie Mayhews & Gladis Owen. I went to Marvins a little while this evening. Carrie was makeing Eva a dress. Marvin went to Renan this evening.

A very cool day for May. We begin to need rain.
Ben & Jim & Henry worked tobacco all day. Mr John Baily eat dinner here to day. Ben & Jim & Henry has gone to the school house to night. A patrons meeting.
Josie ironed this morning. This evening she went to Marvins. Nettie Blair & Doris Brumfield and Ada Hutcherson come here this evening. Doris wanted water mellon seed.
We heard to day that Mrs Lucie Peak started to the hospitle at Roanoke.
I am glad that Franklin is a most well a gain.

A good day. Ben toped some tobacco this morning.
This evening I went to see Mrs Hutcherson. She is very feeble. Mrs Peak & children was there. Mrs Hutcherson gave me a bucket of apples. Rena Mayhew and Ada Hutcherson brough them for me over half way home.
Josie & Franklin went to Marvins this evening. The Hutcherson and Worsham and Brumfield & Smith children all met at Blairs this evening to practice some pieces to say at church some day.
