A changable day. The wind is blowing tonight and colde. The men folks stripped tobacco all day. Ben] has been complaining all day. Hattie] washed today. Josie is very bad off tonight. Ella] come today. Mollie] & Johnson] come a while this morning. Nellie] and I got dinner. Nel sewed some this evening. I ironed a little. The children went to school. I do want to hear from Carrie] and her folks so bad. Wish I could go up there a little while. Edna] and Franklin] has gone to bed half past seven o'clock.

A clear colde day. The neighbors has bin oh so kind to Ben. They helped to burie Josie. There was a big crowd for the weather and so much sickness a bout. Mollie and Kate helped cook dinner. Mollie gave me a nice cake and two jars of pickles. No one eat dinner with us but Mr Mayhew and Lee Brumfield. Mr. Bennett & Lizzie and Gordon come while we were eating dinner. They eat with us. I was glad that they come. Marvin and Carrie and three of the children come. Mr. Jennings talked at the grave. They sung several songs. Had the nicest flowers I most ever did see Twenty minutes until 8 o'clock.

Thursday, January 18, 1923

A colde windy day. Ben loaded his tobacco on the waggon this morning and started for Gretna this evening. Intends to stay at Marvin's tonight. I hope it will not rain while he is gone. Nellie ironed some this morning. I got dinner and churned. Mr. McEray ?? come here this morning. Mrs Carr did not come down stairs until twelve o'clock. She had a head ache. The children went to school. I am so near asleep that I can't write.

A rainy evening. Ben and Jim finished their plant bed today at twelve o'clock. There is sickness at most every home around here at this time. Nellie and I got dinner. Nellie washed dishes. Henry went to Renan for soda for the plant beds. Nellie made Evyline an apron to day. Lelia Ward brought the clothes home this evening. I went to sleep and marked my book. Letia Ward brought the clothes home this evening.
