July 17th, 1973 Dear David Answering your letter same day recived. Recived a check last week from Carl Earl? and he told me your father had passed away. Sorry to hear that kind of news. Had a visit last week from Dr. Jack and Liza Forer Foner(?). Colby College, Waterville, Maine. We spent a couple of nice hours together. I liked them. They offered me a job at there school, I should say asked me if I would except an offer. I said I [crossed out: would not] could not [crossed out: ,] except anything except a summer offer some place.
