639 COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEATTLE Engine Co No 2 is broken recommending that a new bell be purchased. Ordered that the Clerk with the advise of His Honor the Mayor & the Chief of the fire department purchase a new bell. A petitionid rec'd from Geo K Beede for the transfer of his Retail liquor license for the saloon Corner Columbia & Front Streets to Geo McConnell & Co. Petition denied. A petition is rec'd from Adam Orth et al asking that Peter Bunn be appointed & a Special Police office. Referred to Police Comtee And now the Council proceeds with the examination and equalization of the assessmentt Rolls for the year 1885 Ordered that the following changes be made on said roll: James Dougan reduced on mortgage to $40. J S Maggs reduced on lands 2 acres taken off also amount of Iprovements $500. taken off O G Root to be assessed on mortgage to $40. E Still to be reduced on mortgage to $75. Geo Misener to be reduced in Improvements to $800. H A Bigelow to be raised on Improvements to $800. J W Edwards to be reduced on mortgage to $240. Ordered that the following named persons be notified to appear Tomorrow evening. P Wickestrom, W D Wood, Joseph F McNaught & James McNaught Ordered that the Council stand now adjourned until Tuesday May 26, 1885 at 8 o'clock pm AttestE S Osborne Approved John Leary mayor
