CARBOMB 7" EP (BUDDY SYSTEM) I'd never heard of seen this band before I had my 1st listen to this fine record & I wasn't really expecting much. Boy, was I wrong! This thing totally stunned me! sounds like kidsmeal (duh) w/ lots of Fugazi influence in places. I love it! And they're great live, too!

ABACUS: an instrument for doing or teaching arithmetic. On this are drawn lines; a counter on the lowest line is one; one the next, ten; on the third, a hundred, etc. On the spaces, counters denote half the number of the line above.

ACARIDA: a division of Arachnida, including the mites, ticks, and water mites.

ACCORDION: a musical instrument with keys, metal reeds, and a bellows which is alternately pulled out and pressed together between the hands of the player to force air through the reeds and thus produce tones.

ACIPENSER: a genus of cartilaginous ganoid fishes, distinguished by the bony scales or plates arranged at intervals along the body in five longitudinal rows. The gills are free, the snout and conical, and the mouth retractile, toothless, and projecting from the under surface of the head. This genus includes the STURGEON.

ACOLYTE: in the Roman Catholic Church, the highest of the inferior orders of clergy, whose office it is to follow and serve the superior orders in the ministry of the altar, light the candles, prepare the elements of the sacrament, etc.

ADENOIDS: growths of adenoid tissue in the upper part or the throat, behind the nose.

AGARIC: a fungus.

ALEMBIC: a chemical apparatus formerly used in distillation, and usually made of glass or metal.

ALHAMBRA: a fortress and palace erected by the Moors near Granada, Spain, during the thirteenth and early fourteenth centuries.

ALPACA: a ruminant, native to the mountains of Bolivia and Peru, allied to the Llama. It is somewhat like a sheep and can be domesticated.

AMAZON: 1. in Greek mythology, a female warrior of a race supposed to have lived in Scythia, near the Black Sea. 2. a woman soldier. 3. a large strong

AMICE: an oblong white linen cloth worn as a collar by Roman Catholic priests at mass, with the upper edge fastened round the neck under the alb.

AMOEBA: a microscopic, one-celled animal, that absorbs its food at every point of its body by means of processes which are also locomotive, being protruded and withdrawn at will, so that it constantly changes its shape.

ANAMORPHOSIS: a distorted image which looks normal when viewed with a special device, as with an anamorphoscope.

ANCHOVY: a Mediterranean fish used in cooking; usually salted, spiced, and canned in oil or made into a paste.

ANTIAIRCRAFT: used for defense against enemy aircraft; as, an antiaircraft gun

ANVIL: an iron or steel block on which metal objects are hammered into shape.

APE: a chimpanzee, gorilla, orangutan or gibbon; a tailless monkey that can stand and walk in an almost erect position.

AQUAPLANE: a board towed by a motorboat, on which one may ride over the water.

ARABESQUE: a complex and elaborate design of intertwined flowers, foliage, geometrical patterns, etc. painted or carved in low relief.

ARARAT: a volcanic mountain with two peaks in E. Turkey, near the boundary with Iran and the Soviet union: mentioned in Gen. 8:4 [zd. where Noah's ark finally found dry ground after the flood] 16,696 ft.

ARCHIMEDEAN SCREW: an instrument or device for raising water or loose material, as salt, cement, etc., from a lower to a higher level. It is said to have been invented by Archimedes, and consists of a spiral conduit wound around an inclined axis or of a large screw in a cylinder. After the lower end has been dropped into the liquid or material to be raised, the screw is revolved and the substance rises to the upper level.

ARMED AT ALL POINTS: completely covered with armor.

AS: a Roman coin of copper alloy, originally weighing a pound, but reduced after the first Punic war, to two ounces, and subsequently to half an ounce: the most common form had the two-faced head of Janus on one side and the prow of a ship on the other.

ascot: a kind of scarf or necktie with broad ends, tied and arranged so that the ends are laid flat, one across the other.

ass: 1. a long-eared usually ash-colored mammal related to the horse, serving as a slow, patient, sure-footed beast of burden; the donkey. 2. a fool; a blockhead.

atomizer: a device for breaking a liquid, especially a medicine or perfume, into very small particles and spraying these out.

augar: a tool for boring holes in wood or other soft substances. It is used for making holes larger than those made by a gimlet.

auk: any of a number of related diving birds of northern seas, with a heavy body, webbed feet, a short tail, and short wings used as paddles.

axis: The straight line, real or imaginary, passing through a body, on which it revolves, or may be imagined to revolve; as, the axis of the earth.
