Sunday 14

Today is the Super bowl - rats. I [don't?] really care who wins, but I bet it's a good game. Ask Mary or will you maybe send my papers' comments from psych T.A. to me? Last night we 4 got back from Munchen. [Went?] to [Hofbrau?] Haus. [Great fun?] - My first full [steam?] of beer. Still don't like it. But [anyway?] Our next trip will be better because of our mistakes this time, like going to closed things. Its pretty crummy traveling in the winter because it is very cold. Nobody likes just walking around because it is so uncomfortable. My purse broke so I bought a nice new one, for $17 U.S. money. Things are not any cheaper here. (Money goes fast!) Maybe a little, but I don't notice it. I was looking for shoes (mine are horrible on icy trail to [Burg?]) and the shoes are expensive and they don't have very many in my size. Too many for them. I thought they were just right. My long [undies?] are being used often. Thanks for the letter Mom, sounds like a [crummy?] article [op?] Doc. [lg.?] - stupid paper. About [wurst?]. It's cheap here and almost all taste like those hotdogs you. OK. I don't my classes. The German ones are all right but none of them are very good. [Music?] was big let down. The stupid nervous teacher is going [to?] cover all of German Music in 8 meetings. Last Thursday we did [Bach?] I know nothing about it and there's pretty much work on it. The War and Intellectual seminar is pretty good (WWI). Speaking of war, we met some drunk (60 years old) in the train station who was a prisoner of war in Louisiana. He said it was the best time of his life. He was a tennis instructor and the doctor there had a grapefruit [still?] in the infirmary. Interesting story he had. He spoke English. Everybody in Munchen did. We would go into a store and start grasping for Dutch words and either they would start in English or bring some one over who did. Takes some [fun?] off it. Oh, I menat to say while describing the cold traveling that since don't just walk around, have something to do, which is [an?] art gallery or museum or some sight-seeing place. [Yup?] In Munchen there was a neat Smithsonian type place where there were wings on Physics, chemistry, music, etc. There were little booths with buttons to push which would demonstrate laws of physics or a reaction or something. Fun. Also had old plane place that was interesting. Museum stuff is tiring! Like shopping. Today at 3:00 there is the [Familiarfest?]. I hope I get a good family. It will make a difference on this whole quarter. Scary ordeal - like a slave auction, check your teeth (not really) - accept or reject you. Bleech. It will be uncomfortable. Next weekend I'm going with group skiing

I just got your call. What a [shocker?]. Thanks [much?]. My family here is really nice (through Herzog) like I said. The [familienfest?] was horrible - I hate mingling more than anything. Luckily Wendy [Ramage?] and her German friend said that I could go to this family who hadn't come so I could relax, then Mrs. Krauter came and Wendy's friend Hans introduced us. He is very relaxed and smokes cigars. Later Bob and I went to his house to meet his wife - very nice. We communicated pretty well. Do you know what part of Germany Grampa's family come from? They wondered. I think things will go well now knowing these people. They said to come anytime. Has Rex Morgan hung up the phone yet? Jeez! I really am missing R.Morgan . Pants are very much accepted here for just walking around town. But today I wore...stockings! Yes, it's true; I did. Those are good ones Mom. I am going now to study, I have to read a lot of stuff. More work than at home, still not too bad though. Have you given Mei the dollar? Say hi to all the [Mecceas?] including Sudden Sam. Everyone is invited to write. Pat Leroy on head for me. Hi Schmelz.

Love, Anne
